Egg Cup Caterpillars
Kids love bugs! What better to create their very own toy than to use something you already have in your kitchen? Here’s a fun creative way to turn trash into art!
Supplies Needed:
Paper Plate (to hold paint)
Googly eyes
Scissors
Pipe Cleaner
1 or 2 Paint Brushes
Place Mat (or a way to cover your table)
Egg Carton
Non-Toxic Washable Paint
Liquid Glue
Thumbtack or Needle
Prep for the Adults:
Cut out the bottom half of the egg carton.
You can cut your caterpillars as long as you want! They could be the whole egg carton’s length, or as small as 2 egg cups. It’s up to you and your crafty kiddo.
Pre-cut holes in the egg carton caterpillar for the antennas. You can use a thumbtack, or a needle, or anything small and sharp.
Pre-cut some pipe cleaner antennas too.
Prepare your artist’s paint palette.
Step-by-Step:
Gather all the supplies needed and create a workspace for the young artist.
Paint it green! Paint it blue! Paint it any color fit for you!
The pipe cleaner is fit through the pre-cut holes to make little antennas.
Your caterpillar can have googly eyes glued on, or little dotted eyes drawn on.
After it dries, you can add any details you’d like! Now your caterpillar is ready to crawl around and face the big big world.
